For those who want to learn about JLH1969 or JLH1969M, you can google Williamson tube amplifier - the first HI-FI amp ever.
You will see a lot of similarity between Williamson and JLH1969: the JLH1969 is simply a current-driven version of Williamson, and the JLH1969M, using voltage driven output devices, are truer to Williamson than JLH1969 (using current-driven output devices).
Nelson Pass, a few years after I introduced JLH1969M, introduced PLH, which is essentially the JLH1969M without its input stage:
To me, JLH1969M is one of those first-watt amplifiers: you can configure it to run in Class A for the 1watt or less, and then transition smoothly into Class B for higher output.
For 1w rms @ 8ohm, that means idle current of 500ma. That can be easily done with TO220 devices in JLH1969M, and piece of cake for TO3P devices.
