2212有两个模式,模拟和数字。在模拟模式下,垂直信号路径都是模拟的,从B数控输入连接器到CRT的静电偏转板。在数字模式下,输入信号是数字化的,可以存储或打印或与实时波形比较。其他的信号,如触发水平是由内部计算机在两种模式控制.

2212是一个双跟踪范围,被评为具有60兆赫的模拟带宽。数字模式下的带宽要低得多(20兆赫)。

后面面板上有一个用于连接并行端口打印机的DS-25连接器。它可以正确地打印到兼容的打印机上,并允许对屏幕上的内容进行一些定制。2212有一个"滚动"模式,模拟在数字模式下缓慢抽样率的条形图表记录器。
